Outside the walls |
On the famous Mount Zion we find the David's Tomb. Before the entrance to the David's tomb, there is a room that used these day as a synagogue. The sarcophagus was preserved in a crusader period building, erected on the site of an earlier. In XV'th century the Muslims took over the cenotaph and transformed it into a mosque. Between the years 1948 - 1967 while the Jews were denied to access the Wailing Wall, they came to the David's Tomb to pray. We'll now make a little trip on Jerusalem and reach the largest and the most beautiful synagogue in the whole Israel - The Great Synagogue. We believe there is no need in words...Just look at these pictures. Nearby the Great Synagogue we can see the Central Rabbinate, the supreme religious authority. At the end of this tour on Judaism we just can't visit very special place to Jews'. Just a few kilometers from Jerusalem there is a small building with a white dome - Rachel's Tomb. Rachel was the only one matriarch who died and was interred here and not like the patriarchs like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob or the matriarchs like Sarah, Rebecca and Leah who was burried in Hebron. Rachel died at this place during giving birth to Benjamin. |
