To all the Jews from around the world the Wailing Wall is a symbol of the Juwish faith.
The western part of this wall was built to support the Temple Esplanade. It stands 15 meters high and was named bacause of the Jews' long exile.

Many times jews were prohibited to go praying near that wall:
Romans prohibited Jews' to return to their city, Byzantines allowed to go pray only once a year on the anniversary of the Destruction of the Temple (9'th day of Av month on Jewish calendar).
Between years 1948 - 1967 the wall was in Jordanian sector of Jerusalem, so once again the access to the Wailing Wall was denied.

This wall linkes to many traditions which one of them is writing prayers on the piece of paper and sliping it into the cracks on the wall.
In front of the Western Wall located a square, which according to tradition is an esplanade where the Temple stood - it is the goal of all the faithful who comes here to pray.
Nobody is allowed to set his foot on the Holy Holiest where only the high priest was permitted to go.

Juwish religion containes many groups, which could be easily recognizable.

Ashkenazi (religious from Central - Eastern Europe) are wear shiny black coats, black trousers, black hats, long beards and side-locks.

Religious from the North Africa or Middle Eastern countries wear embroidered caps similar to those used by muslims.

Others pray covering their heads and shoulders with prayer shawls "talleth") with fringes at the four courners.
However, all males must cover their heads.

Most orthodox among the Ashkenazi speak Yiddish. These people use Hebrew only for studies and prayers, because it is a Holy language.

Sefardic religious (those who originally came from Spain and Mideterranean region) use the Ladino language which is judeo-Spanish dialect.
Also their rituals is different from those of Ashkenazi religious.

The most radical of Jewish religious do not recognize the State of Israel as is and they completely reject all it's laws. Those people only believe that the advent of Messiah will give Jews sovereignty over the Jerusalem and the Holy Land.

The women of this community dress very modestly, and married women must cover their heads with hats, wigs or scarves.
